    Introduction

    Desceliers is a gold-copper property held in a 50/50 JV with SOQUEM. It is located 150 km west of Route 389, a 570-km-long stretch of highway between the city of Baie-Comeau and the iron mining town of Fermont. The property is attractive for the nature and size of its geochemical footprint (an especially strong Au-Cu association) and the untested potential of the area. Work to date by Azimut and SOQUEM has defined several robust targets, namely for iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) and magmatic Ni-Cu deposits.

  • Reconnaissance work in 2017, which followed up on an in-fill lake-bottom sediment survey in 2016, yielded interesting results on the Desceliers property, including the discovery of a mineralized boulder field (anomalous Au, Ag, As, Bi, Co and Cu values) inside a target area measuring 7 km by 4 km. The bedrock source of the boulders is considered proximal. Two mineralized outcrops 1.7 km apart were discovered in a target area measuring 4 km by 3 km. 

    In 2018, a SOQUEM-funded multi-property exploration program included work on Desceliers. A heliborne DIGHEM geophysical survey (1,017 line-km) was followed by a short prospecting program (60 grab samples). Collectively, the work defined robust targets, namely for IOCG and magmatic Ni-Cu deposits. 

    The 2019 program, funded and operated by Azimut, included additional focused prospecting.
     

  • This Desceliers property area has seen minimal exploration in the past, and very little is known about its geology.

    The property is underlain by Archean rocks of the Opinaca Subprovince (Superior Province) and is characterized by a strong Au-As-Cu-W signature in lake-bottom sediments, accompanied by favourable geophysical criteria.
